BIOFLO USAGE
HOW TO USE BIOFLO
The BioFlo® Urinary Management System is a new answer to many of the problems associated the catheterization:
Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI), Bladder Atrophy, Urine Backflow, Loss of Ph Balance,
Reduced Mobility, Loss of Bladder Confidence, Discomfort. Click on the boxes below to investigate the benefits of

Active Catheter Wear
System
1. Visually inspect the insertion end of indwelling catheter for cleanliness
2. Attach BioFlo Urinary Management System to indwelling catheter.
3. Slide external end of indwelling catheter directly over tip of BioFlo catheter connector.
4. Ensure external end of indwelling catheter tube is fully pushed over the neck
of the BioFlo® AutoValve inlet. Remove drain end cap from AutoValve.
5. Remove plug from BioFlo® Quick Disconnect / collection bag.
6. Attach BioFlo® Quick Disconnect with collection bag.
7. Secure collection bag.
*Night/Bed Bag – Secure night bag to bed frame, using clip provided, below the level of the bladder.
*Thigh and Leg Bag – Secure leg bag to leg using elastic latex free straps.
Note: Ensure tubing is not kinked or looped and bag does not touch floor or other non-sterile surfaces.

1. Remove BioFlo Quick Disconnect with bag from AutoValve and insert plug into Quick Disconnect
fitting.
2. Remove plug from BioFlo ActiValve.
3. Attach BioFlo ActiValve.
4. Monitor the need to void urine from bladder.
5. To void urine, remove cap and open drain valve. Close valve and replace cap
when finished.
6. To return to collection bag, remove ActiValve, perform cleaning procedure.
7. Attach replacement Quick Disconnect with collection bag.
Note: Do not allow drain valve to touch collection container or any non-sterile surface.

1. Open drain valve and empty bag into collection container.
2. Close drain valve.
Note: Do not allow drain valve to touch collection container or any non-sterile surface

Active Catheter Wear
1. Remove BioFlo Quick Disconnect with bag from AutoValve and insert plug into Quick Disconnect
fitting.
2. Remove plug from BioFlo ActiValve.
3. Attach BioFlo ActiValve.
4. Monitor the need to void urine from bladder.
5. To void urine, remove cap and open drain valve. Close valve and replace cap
when finished.
6. To return to collection bag, remove ActiValve, perform cleaning procedure.
7. Attach replacement Quick Disconnect with collection bag.
Note: Do not allow drain valve to touch collection container or any non-sterile surface.

1. Clean luer lock port with alcohol.
2. Apply small, luer lock tip syringe to luer lock port. Hold in place and maintain
pressure while pulling back syringe plunger.
3. Transfer sample to approved specimen container.
4. Re-clean luer lock port access site with alcohol.
